Ibanez Weeping Demon Wah Pedal

What we say about the Ibanez Weeping Demon
I like this wah pedal enough that I want to write about it on this site, it makes a change from amplifiers.
There are plenty of wah pedals on the market and the majority are endorsed by one guitar hero or another. That probably goes to show how little variation or innovation there is in the market, when the differentiating factor is the name stamped on the box and the pedal plate. Read more »
Peavey Classic 30

What we say about the Classic 30
The Peavey Classic 30 has got a tone that some people swear by. Others see it as a poor man's Fender. To be honest, it has a tone of its own that's distinct from the Fender blues amps, but similar enough that you can see why the comparison exists. Read more »
Phil Jones Bass Suitcase

What we say about the Suitcase
This amp is different from all the other amps featured on this site so far. First, the Phil Jones Bass Suitcase is the first bass amp to feature here. Second, it's the first solid-state, non-valve, non-tube amplifier. Read more »
Engl Thunder Drive 50W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp

What we say about the Engl Thunder
I used to recommend the Engl Thunder combo as a good all-in-one amp. Actually, I've almost bought one a few times, I thought they were that good. If I had bought one, I'm sure I'd have enjoyed every minute with the amp. In fact, it's still on my list for checking when I want a combo amp for covering a variety of styles.
Blackstar HT Series HT-110 Cabinet

What we say about the Blackstar HT-110 Cabinet
I wouldn't ever say that any cab is awesome, maybe I just haven't tried the right one! But the right speaker cabinet can give you access to awesome tone. Read more »
Orange Tiny Terror Combo

What we say
This is a single channel amplifier so if you need to vary the tone on stage, you'll need pedals to do it. There's not much clean headroom on this amp, even at the 15W setting. But then again, it's not really meant for clean. This amp basks in the glory of overdrive. Use a guitar with humbuckers and you'll end up with bite at any volume. Even the trick of turning up the volume, but the gain right down still leaves an edge on the clean tone. It's never quite clean as clean should be. Read more »
Blackstar HT-5H and HT-110 Mini Half Stack
What we say about the Blackstar HT5 stack
I wish this amp had been around when I was first learning how to play guitar. It's great for bedroom usage and beyond. I'm convinced this would have been at the top of my wishlist had it been available then. Read more »
Engl Powerball
What we say about the Engl Powerball 100W Guitar Amp
The Engl Powerball is one of the most complete guitar amplifiers I've ever played. I love the range of tones I can achieve from this amp. I used it as my main amp for over 4 years and it still provides some tones that I find difficult to find elsewhere. Read more »
Make sure your amp makes you smile
Vox AC30 amps have great tone, however they don't fulfil the role of an all-round amp for me. I was playing with one a few days ago and, although I could appreciate what it did, I found it lifeless. I just didn't feel it respond to me. I can imagine it working well for other guitarists though.
I went home and played on my own guitar amp and that put a smile on my face. The difference between the two was incredible. Very few amps have had that effect. In fact, only 3 amps have had that effect on me that I can think of. Read more »
