The Telecaster was first of the mass-produced electric guitars. In many ways, it's still the best. Ok, that's open to argument but in the end it largely comes down to personal preference. 

For me, I prefer the sound of this design to all other guitars. That twang is distinctive no matter what type of music it appears in; blues, rock, grunge, emo, whatever suits you.

G&L carry on this tradition, arguably better than Fender do. If you're looking for a Tele, then look at the G&Ls first. As mentioned previously, there are many good reasons for buying a guitar from one of the small manufacturers.

If you can't afford either, then Farida make some good guitars. Just don't go for the cheapest option, the middle and top of the Farida range are great value for the money.
